Hi!
For anyone who remembers me, I've still not resolved my weird 'issues'. However, it's not in my nature to lurk, so I feel obliged to write something.
First, I have no idea how to compose a message without first replying to another one...
Second, I still don't know how to avoid conflict between my religion and asexuality. The fact is, we're told that we /must/ get married and that, once married, we /must/ have sex. It's not an option. It's something I ought to be actively trying to do. The only problem is, I don't think I could do much more than vomit lavishly over my wife... <ick> So I'm stuck between a fire and a sweaty body, so to speak... ;-)
Third, thanks for the advice, though I have yet to take it...
And finally, I'm not nearly as depressed as I was. I got through the Cambridge interview but didn't work all year and, as a consequence, didn't do well in my A-Levels, so here I am at Warwick - and I hate it! :-) But I got 100% in my last assignment, so I may as well make the most of things and not bother moaning.
How are y'all doing?

Dear Nom and Friends, How are you all doing? I've been away recovering from not the flu but the flu shot!
Please allow me to explain how I see asexuality. Just like there are various kinds of vegeterians, such as strict vegeterians, that avoid eggs and milk, and other kinds of vegeterians (ovo-lacto vegeterians) that allow milk and eggs in their diets, there are different kinds of asexuals.
I relate most closely to the lesbians who are in "Boston Marriages" that have all the emotional and nonsexual physical intimacy of marriage. I comfortably sleep in the same bed as my lover with absolutely no temptation to touch her sexually. I do not indulge in deep French kissing. But, mind you, I am as romantic as they come!
I respect all the variations of asexuality that is out there, and I ask that they show me the same respect.
I think it is important to agree to disagree, and show each other support in our growth as human beings.
Thanks, Nom, and my other dear friends, for giving me that support!
Your friend, Beth

Well, I've been looking at this site several times too, but at the moment, there doesn't seem to be really a subject to talk about.
I wonder how many of the 133 members are still frequently looking at this site? It seems to me that more or less about 20 people is more realistic than 133 ...
Greetings.

Hiya Bostongirl,
Yeah, I wonder about that too. I also have to wonder how many of those names are just pornsters lurking in the shadows, waiting for the chance to clog up our discussion group with their unwanted spam.
And speaking of spam, those last couple of posts-- were downright hilarious.
Vibrating panties... my, my, my.
Even if one were a sexual, what idiot would want a product like that???
I mean... how would you even wash the damn things without electrocuting yourself in the process?
Anyway... if someone ever wants me to help moderate the group, I would be more than happy to kick the spammers butts outta here.
Perhaps doing so will help improve things around here at bit. It's possible that we might have some members who think that this is some sort of porn thing, rather than a group of "nons". Or they don't want to participate because they are afraid they will start to get a bunch of porno into their email boxes-- (assuming they have this group delivered to their email address).

OK, enough with the Asian SheMales and the Vibrating panties. Check out my girls taking care of business with STRAP ONS!
That's right, we don't need no stinking men to get off. We got us 12" black strap ons that take care of the action we need.
Whether you want to watch 5 girls get fucked by a strapon, or you want to buy your own strap on .. Check out http://SuperPornMart.com.

Are there some other on this site who can give their reasons why they don't participate anymore in "talkings"?
Greetings.
Since I just discovered this group, and that asexuals who aren't me actually exist, I suppose I should share my life story. I'm not going to though, so instead I will offer this remastered version of what may or may not be the asexual logo that I made out of boredom: http://robochrist.netfirms.com/asexualthing.gif
I'm not entirely sure what this group is up to at the moment, but if I can be of any use then feel free to say, "Hey, be of use," to me. My potential uses include...um...remastering a logo for no reason.

I don't know if there's a way to moderate Yahoo groups, we'd have to track down the creator who hasn't shown her face in ages. Even if we could ban users I don't know how much it would help, I think it's mostly bots making usersnames and posting porn to anything with "sex" in the title.

Hi Djay,
Yahoo groups provides many options for controlling a list.
The moderator for example can ban certain members so they don't have the ability to post.
You can also set up the group to have a restricted membership which will cut down on someone who wants to join up, spam, and then leave. With a restricted membership, anyone who wants to join has to get past the the moderator first.
Finally there are also a few other useful options. You can make every post require approval from the moderator.
Or... you can also set up the list so that certain members can post freely but others have to have their postings go through the moderator first before their messages get posted.
The latter option might be a good for this group because it would require the member to go through a certain trial period of sorts before they would be able to post freely.
Anyway if you ever did want to set some controls on the list, it would be a matter of trying to get in touch with the list owner to make changes or having her relinquish control and handing the reins over to you or someone else.

I read the posts, I've just been a little too busy to post lately, engineering studies are taking up most of my time.
If there is anyone else present in the group whom do not wish to be restricted, banned, or otherwise, could they post similar messages to let us know who should/should not be banned?

I got a small list based on the spam emails that have been posted to this list over the last month.
Anyway.. restricting isn't going affect existing members of the group, only ones who decide to join up at later date.
Any new members who join would have to have their posts approved by the moderator first before they would have the ability to post. That would cut down on the possibility of someone joining up spamming and then leaving.
Banning isn't going to affect anyone either, unless they send spam.
So unless you are a spammer, you would have nothing to worry about really.

I don't know if there's a way to moderate Yahoo groups, we'd have to track down the creator who hasn't shown her face in ages. Even if we could ban users I don't know how much it would help, I think it's mostly bots making usersnames and posting porn to anything with "sex" in the title.
Are there some other on this site who can give their reasons why they don't participate anymore in "talkings"?
Sorry, I've been focusing more on AVEN (which is pretty bumpin'.) You might want to check out the Livejournal communities too, I don't know what they're up to...

Cool!! Someone would have to vulunteer to be on point enough to let new posters through in a timely fashion though. Any volunteers? I have my hands full right now with AVEN. And we'll have to track down the group creatos (drksparkle, I believe..)

Hi Djay,
Yahoo groups provides many options for controlling a list.

Ha, ha.
Agreed.

So how many people here can actually say that they identify as asexual, and yet can still feel/experience positive erotic/passionate/or attraction feelings (without expressing them with sex)? I've seen a lot of people talking about being confused with issues like coming out as asexual, and acceptance. That was never really a problem for me as I think I said back when I was posting more often. My "confusing" issue is that I am, I think, one of those people who can feel quite attracted, perhaps sometimes physically, and yet, I don't express it with sex. Ussually, though, there's got to be more than just a body to stare at, but in any case, I am not devoid of passions. ;)

Yes, that is pretty much where I am at too. Call it a cliché being attracted to their minds, whatever. I think this could be termed as erotic in only the wildest stretches of the term! Though, I must admit, I have had some truly --amazing-- conversations with special people who have gone beyond the realm of semantics and entered into a strange connection that I can only dub as "flight," or vernacular dancing perhaps, where your thoughts are so in sync that the otherwise trial of conversation is left in the dust. Mutual poetry.
That's my kind of "sex."
Ha, then again, you have the realists who say that "all art is mental masturbation." So there you go, erotica!
Seriously though. I pretty much see what you are saying on your level. I've got no problems accepting who I am, if anything the Realization was one of the most happy and vindicating moments in my life, so far.
On Things to Talk About... I'm with Nom de Plume on this one. Really, asexuality isn't that important to me on a day by day basis. Unlike other sexual orientations, you really don't get any "gruff" from the rest of the world, save for the occasional blunt hints from parents about grandchildren in your twenties -- and a bit of teasing when you are younger -- but who *doesn't* get teased for *something* at some point between the grades of 8 and 12. We don't need special rights, for the most part, there are no laws about *not* getting married. Sure, we live in a world that is saturated with sexual innuendo and a consumer market that is almost dominated with sexual overtones, but if you are anything like me -- you just don't even see that. I attribute my complete disinterest in all things Pop and typical Way of Life as a side effect of just not noticing, or being oblivious to it all. It is all tuned to a different market, but that really doesn't bother me, because the latest issue of Entertainment will never be on my debit card bill, but a couple tubes of cerulean blue oil paint or a typewriter ribbon *will.* Neither of those get marketed sexually, last I checked!
(Yes, I realize not everyone here is an Artist (though there does seem to be quite a few,) I am speaking for myself -- I don't have any issue with these things, others might.)
So sure, once you get the whole "Oh wow there are more people like me out there!" out of your system, most people don't have much to talk about that hasn't already been covered. I do not know what the others want this group to be. I saw one person say it should just be a conversation point for asexuals, and topics are not really defined -- and I'm all for that, I love sharing ideas; but on the other hand the last time another and I started going off on random topics we got obliquely reprimanded for attempting to type autism with asexualism by simply posting an off-topic conversation about the former on the latter conversation board -- with no inferred connection if you actually took the time to read the posts.
*shrug*
I am out of words for now.

I can. I was obsessed/half in love with a guy for six years but nothing ever happened. He was a good friend but I felt something more for him. Most human beings however, express themselves sexually when they experience such feelings. Sigh...
