How about "monosexual," the definition of "mono" being "one, single, alone." The fist of many terms I'm sure I'll end up cobbling together.

On a side note, I am very sad and frustrated that my sexuality isn't even recognized as being real. That's something I actually haven't really thought about before. *sigh*

I'm glad you have really started trying to come up with a more fitting name. Maybe together we can all come up with one. I don't mean to pick on you, but monosexual sounds like a term for those not interested in sex but masurbation. Maybe that's just me ;-) We should all try to come up with a word and then call Webster's. Even if we can't we should have a new meaning tacked on to 'asexual' in the dictionary.

You seem to have some sort of fetish for male chests. I don't think there's really anything wrong with that, but I'm confused as to why you're choosing this forum to talk about it.

Maybe you should try I bisexal or gay club and maybe a fetish or masturbation club. I hope this doesn't sound like I am trying to get rid of you, I just don't think we can be of much help. You see we aren't interested in sex with the same or opposite sex so asking us for advise on this is like a prostitute asking a nun for sexual advise. I'm not trying to put you down with that remark, only to emphasise that we come from such different backgrounds sexually that I am sure there are better places to go for you. I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

A few things.

Hey all. I am thinking about adding a section to my asexual FAQs Page and I was needing ya'lls help. If some of you would let me use your pics and also tell me some of your interest, that's exactly what I need. I haven't decided what I want to do yet but it's gonna be a 'faces of asexualism' kind of thing to let everyone know that there is nothing wrong with it or us. I noticed some of you have pics on your profiles and I was wanting permission to use them. Then when you submit your information if you decide you want it removed I will do so. I realize that some of you are a little shy about it so don't sweat it.

Also Montgomery and I have been talking and we both would like to see more activity in the chat room. Maybe we could start scheduling live chats?

What do you guys think (especially you drksparkle since you are the founder)?

I bet we could get our sexuality recognized or atleast a word for us put in the dictionary. I do some web work so when we get a few good suggestions I could put up a poll page and then we can get the ball rolling on getting it in to Websters. Just think, if we do that there will be more exposure for us and probably a big jump in membership and asexual community.

Guess that's it for now. If you are interested in being part of the new asexualism section on my page, just e-mail me with your pic or how to get it along with info about you (hobbies and stuff).

I thought of that right after I had made the post. Hehe.

I didn't do a great deal of research last night but the best term does indeed seem to be "asexual." The word just fits from what I've found.

I might like to participate, but I'm afraid I have no pics on the Net, and lack the technology to upload them. Is one required?

I like the idea of a bunch of us getting together in the chat room. I hope something can be worked out or by sheer luck we manage to be there at the same time. :)

I, too, would like to see more activity in the chat rooms. I don't know how effective a scheduled chat would be...I've never regularly taken part in one. My schedule is pretty wacky, too.

I'm going to be in the UK for a couple of weeks and I won't be going online much, if at all.

I really like the online poll idea. If there were a Webster's definition, I think it would make some of us a lot more comfortable. Dictionary definitions make things more tangible therefore less abstract.

I'll participate in your 'faces of asexualism' thing.

What a bummer.

Did a little research on getting words into the dictionary. I was hoping we could start a petition and have the word asexual ammended to fit our needs or have a new word put in. Read the article at this URL:

<a href=http://www.dictionary.com/doctor/faq/h/howin.html target=new>http://www.dictionary.com/doctor/faq/h/howin.html</a>

They sure know how to rain on a girl's parade! Maybe there is something else to be done. I'll keep looking.

How bout unsexual? Theres no negative connotation there. Antisexual seems harsh, asexual is reserved for plants. Eunch is reserved for those without gentilia. Monosexual sounds wierd. I think unsexual sounds right. Un meaning 'no'. Also since we have to be politically correct I consider myself a 'non-coitus seeking entity' (ncse).

Also a question, if you masterbate, does that make unsexual or does it automatically place you with the gays, bi's or straights depending on your fantasies or pornography of choice??

Curious.

woah. I just looked on www.dictionary.com and it does have a definition that applies to us! That's wierd because in my dictionary (you remember books don't you, hehe) it only has the first two definitions. Of course it is copyrighted in 1995 so maybe they have added it since then. Anyone have a current dictionary with the same definitions as on dictionary.com? So maybe we are a recognized sexuality, (recognized if not publicized).

I don't think that masturbation makes you necessarily gay or straight. I guess I just consider myself "sexually liberal", at least in terms of other people's activities. I don't think that a generally straight man who has a crush on a guy is bisexual, he's just a straight guy who has a crush on a guy. I'm asexual, but I get all sorts of crushes on people. I'm not interested in "doing" anything with them, they're just people I like a lot. My point is that we can give ourselves a label (if we so choose), but we don't need to alter that label with every nuance that comes along.

Wow another asexual site.

Hey I found a link to a group called AVEN (Asexual Visibility and Education Network). If anyone wants to check it out, here's the URL:

<a href=http://djay.web.wesleyan.edu/index.htm target=new>http://djay.web.wesleyan.edu/index.htm</a>

And I also found the guy who gets my vote for 'closed-minded ignoramous of the month'.

This is a pasted version of this guys 'thoughts':

There are very few asexual people. Most who limit themselves to maaturbation only, do so because they are unable to have sex with other people. There are many reasons why this might be: Some are afraid of vinerial diseases and/or germs and the like; Some have come from an abusive background and are afraid to interact sexually with others; Still others are limiting themselvs because they are afraid that they are some how inadiquate.

The list goes on and on. Most masturbators are hetero, gay or bi. A very small percentage are not sexually attracted to other people. We're stilla part of the animal kingdom and the "need to breed" is a difficult compulsion to fight.

The URL for that is <a href=http://www.wetset.net/watersports-bbs/messages/30451.htm target=new>http://www.wetset.net/watersports-bbs/messages/30451.htm</a> if you wanted to know. Hopefully we can put an end to these myths soon.

Finally about chatting, everyone can post hours when they are available, maybe have certain times a day to meet in chat for ppl with different schedules, or use messenger to round everyone up. I'm trying to think of a good way to get everyone together on this cuz no one wants to hang around an empty chat room waiting for folks to show up who aren't coming anyway. Any suggestions on an easy way to accomplish this would be awesome.

Asexual Webring?

It's me yet again (what can I say, I'm unemployed but hopefully not for much longer). Anyway I was wondering if you guys would be interested in getting an asexual webring started. I think there are enough sites out there, if only for a small web ring to start. What do ya'll think? Has anyone here created a web ring? If not I am sure I can figure it out.

BTW I found a band called the asexuals and wondered if anyone is familiar with them. Apparently they are a punk band. I'm gonna try to download some of their songs. Maybe they have us an anthem :)

Well this is my last post for the night (I PROMISE..LOL)

Asexual Webring Started

Well for better or worse I started the Asexual Web Ring. Right now mine is the only site on it (and it's crappy but I had to list a site to start the ring). Sadly, OFA has responded that they do not wish to join the ring siting problems with Yahoo WebRing policy. But I have e-mailed several other people and hope to see the ring expand soon. Hopefully we will see a decent Asexual Interntet community come out of all of this.

The Asexual Web Ring has moved to this address:

<a href=http://www.geocities.com/tngirltech/webring.htm target=new>http://www.geocities.com/tngirltech/webring.htm</a>

Please read GirlTech's previous message for details as they still apply.

Also, on the site there is a blue rose in the navagation bar at the bottom of the page. It would be much appreciated to get feedback on this image as we were thinking it could be a symbol for asexualism. The symbolic meaning for a blue rose is "uniqueness."

Webring Feedback

Hey all. Like montgomery said the webring has moved. I took the suggestion of the president of OFA and moved to ringsurf. It is much better there. Anyway, we have picked a blue rose as a symbol for asexualism and we want your feed back. I have the club's name on the WebRing so I figured ya'll would want to have your input counted. Also if anyone has any suggestions of sites they would like to see added to the ring, please let me know. The ring home page has been updated since the last post too so have a look and tell me what you think.

I have never been interested in sex. Curious at first about what the fuss was about but I never wanted sex. While everyone asumes all teens to be a big raging hormone, I never was. I have never been interested in sex (now affection is a different story which sort of complicates matters). As far as coming out I have never said "I am an asexual" mostly because there wasn't a term for it ;-) All my friends know that I am not interested in sex and that is that. No big deal. I guess with you being a guy it would be a lot harder. If your friends give you too much trouble then they aren't worth having anyway.

So you are actually anti-sex? You not only not prefer sex but you are against the act itself? You were a bit vague in your message and I am just trying to understand what you are saying. Wow. Did you tell the people that you just weren't into sex or did they notice you not being with girls and assume you were gay? I know that men have a more difficult time with being asexual because they are assumed gay but I never heard of any actually getting gay bashed before!
